13 May Lamb Jam DC 2016
The American Lamb Jam is an epic tasting event and competition that brought together 17 talented chefs in Washington DC to compete for the honor of Best Lamb Dish in their market and the chance to attend the finale where the 5 winning chefs will battle for the title of “Lamb Jam Master.”
Joining the chefs were local breweries, winemakers and other local food artisans serving up tasty treats. Between bites, attendees watched butcher demos, played in the interactive photo booth, met local lamb shepherds and concocted their very own lamb spice rub.
The Global Flavors challenge encouraged the Lamb Jam contenders to cook outside of their culinary comfort zones. Chefs were divided into 4 categories: Mediterranean, Asian, Latin and Middle Eastern cuisine to see whose worldly lamb dish reigned supreme.
The beneficiaries of Lamb Jam went to DC Central Kitchen, America’s leader in reducing hunger with recycled food, training unemployed adults for culinary careers, serving healthy school meals, and rebuilding urban food systems through social enterprise.
